South Pickering · Pickering
Liverpool - the central spine of south Pickering
Liverpool stretches the full length of south Pickering along the Liverpool Road corridor, a large, varied community connecting the waterfront to the City Centre and the northern greenbelt.
Liverpool overview
Liverpool is one of the largest of Pickering's 15 official south urban neighbourhoods, occupying the central spine of the city along Liverpool Road. It stretches from Highway 401 in the south up to the greenbelt at the north end of the urban area, with a population approaching 18,000. As one of the most varied neighbourhoods in Pickering it includes detached subdivisions, condo apartments, townhouses and the Pickering City Centre area.
Housing in Liverpool reflects its size: 1970s-1990s detached and semi-detached homes on 30-50 ft lots in the central streets; townhouse complexes throughout; condo apartment towers along Liverpool Road and around Pickering Town Centre; and emerging mid-rise condo development in the new Pickering City Centre. The variety supports first-time buyers, downsizers and move-up families.
Pickering Town Centre - the regional mall - sits inside Liverpool, just north of Hwy 401. The emerging Pickering City Centre redevelopment, with its planned arts centre, new condo towers and reimagined urban centre, is also within Liverpool boundaries. This concentration of regional amenities makes Liverpool the de facto downtown of Pickering.
Pickering GO sits at the south edge of Liverpool, putting downtown Toronto roughly 30 minutes away by train. The TTC equivalent for Pickering is Durham Region Transit, which has its busiest routes through Liverpool. Hwy 401 is across the south; Hwy 407 / 412 is a short drive north.
Schools include the catchments of Pine Ridge SS and Dunbarton HS (DDSB), St. Mary CSS (DCDSB) and several DDSB / DCDSB elementary schools.
From a real estate perspective Liverpool is one of the most varied Pickering markets - which means the marketing has to be precise about which Liverpool the listing actually is. The Krzewski Group does that work for every listing: defining the micro-pocket, pricing accurately and reaching the right buyer pool.
