South Pickering · Pickering
West Shore - Pickering's west-end waterfront
West Shore sits along Lake Ontario in the southwest corner of Pickering, a quiet waterfront community with a mix of mature homes, lakefront streets and direct Rouge Park access.
West Shore overview
West Shore is one of Pickering's 15 south urban neighbourhoods, occupying the southwest waterfront corner of the city. It is bounded by Lake Ontario to the south, Hwy 401 to the north, Frenchman's Bay to the east and Petticoat Creek / Rosebank Road to the west. West Shore is one of the original lakeside developments in Pickering, with character going back to the early postwar period.
Housing is varied: 1950s-1970s detached homes, modern rebuilds, mid-1980s to 2000s detached subdivisions, and a small share of townhouses. Lot sizes vary widely, with some larger lots on the original lakeside streets and more uniform lot sizes in the planned subdivisions.
West Shore's defining feature is, of course, the lake. The Lake Ontario waterfront, Petticoat Creek Conservation Area, the Waterfront Trail and Frenchman's Bay all border or sit within West Shore. The Beachpoint Promenade gives the community direct beach access.
Transit and access are practical. Pickering GO is a 5-10 minute drive; Rouge Hill GO is similar. Hwy 401 is along the north edge.
From a real estate perspective West Shore is one of the most distinctive Pickering markets, with a strong waterfront-lifestyle buyer pool. The Krzewski Group works it with editorial marketing that puts the lake front and centre.
